 ABOUT THE PRODUCT

Star*Shine^®Resolve Psyllium Pellets is a comprehensive new supplement for horses based on recently published peer-reviewed research to address two equine-related problems: 

1. Reduce sand accumulation in the hind-gut of horses.

2. It may also be beneficial to those horses that have history of sensitivity to sugar and starches in their diet or have been diagnosed with glucose and insulin imbalances.  Horses that are good candidates would be horses with Cushing’s Disease (hyper secretion of cortisol), Equine Metabolic Syndrome (EMS) and/or are insulin resistant (IR), obesity, or are chronically laminitic (see Caution Statement for those that are NOT good candidates).  For the most effective results, it is advised that horses diagnosed with metabolic problems be on a comprehensive diet that is low in sugars and starches (to include the hay and other grain supplements) in conjunction with an appropriate exercise program.

The active ingredients in this supplement are:

1. Psyllium Husks- commonly recommended by veterinarians as a treatment and preventative for sand colic.  Husks form a gel-like substance that increases the viscosity of digesta which increases intestinal motility and aids in the expulsion of sand from the digestive tract.  It has also been implicated with reducing blood glucose and insulin concentrations in horses when fed for 60 consecutive days.

2. Chromium Yeast - recognized as an essential mineral that amplifies insulin’s signal for glucose uptake.

3. Alltech’s Yea-Sacc (Saccharomyces cerevisae) - the combination of a direct-fed microbial (DFM) along with psyllium may increase large intestine health by increasing motility and reducing the inflammatory effects of sand accumulation.

4. Magnesium- a macro mineral involved with cellular energy production and glucose metabolism.

5. Cinnamon- may aid with glucose metabolism at the insulin receptor level.

Cinnamon and green apple flavoring will entice consumption.

HOW TO FEED

Star*Shine Resolve Psyllium Pellets should be mixed with the regular grain ration.  

To address sand accumulation in the hindgut of horses, initially offer ~1 scoop (3.5 oz) twice daily (total of 7 oz in two separate meals along with regular hay and grain ration) for 28-32 consecutive days.  Thereafter, for monthly maintenance, offer ~1 scoop (3.5 oz) once daily for 5-7 consecutive days.  

To provide comprehensive support of diagnosed metabolic imbalances, offer ~1 scoop (3.5 oz) once daily (along with regular hay and grain ration) for 60 consecutive days.  

Available in 10 lb pails or 30 lb buckets.

CAUTIONS

For use in mature horses only, do not feed to animals raised for human consumption.   Consultation with your veterinarian is recommended prior to or during use of this product.  The effects of this supplement may be contradicted in those horses diagnosed with hypoglycemia or hypoinsulinemia, RER (recurrent exertional rhabdomyolysis), or EPSM/PSSM (equine polysaccharide storage myopathy).  Extended, continuous use of any psyllium product can result in weight loss and diarrhea. 

Store feed in a clean environment free of moisture, rodents, insects, and other pests.  Do not feed moldy or repugnant feed.
