LAND O’LAKES® ULTRA FRESH™ LAMB MILK REPLACER
Ultra Fresh™Lamb Milk Replacer is specially formulated for lambs. It is specially formulated with a combination of high quality milk protein and homogenized animal fat to get lambs off to a fat, healthy start.
Mix 1/4lbsof Ultra Fresh™in 1 pint of warm water(110°—120°F). Stir while slowly adding the powder. When mixing large batches, mix 2 lbs of Ultra Fresh with 1 gal of water.
Hand Feeding: Lambs should receive colostrum for the first day after birth. When feeding by bottle, the milk replacer should be fed at body temperature. The following feeding schedule is recommended.
After Colostrum Feeding—3 Days: Feed 1/3 cup of reconstituted milk replacer 4—6 times a day at 4 hour intervals.
4 Days—2 Weeks: Gradually decrease the number of feedings and increase the amount of milk replacer per feeding. At 2 weeks of age, 1 cup of reconstituted milk replacer 3 times a day is sufficient.
2 Weeks—Weaning: Feed reconstituted milk replacer twice daily and in gradually increased quantities.
Free Choice Feeding: If using devices to give lambs free access to milk replacer, it should be fed cold at 40°F. Cold milk is used to limit the intake and prevent overeating. When starting lambs on nipples they will require assistance. However, they will adapt readily, and nurse independently within 1—2 days. Keep milk replacer equipment clean. Provide a high quality creep feed at a few days of age and continue on a free choice basis. Fresh, clean water should be available at all times.
