ABOUT THE PRODUCT

Defiance Senior Hi Fat is  a highly-fortified textured high-fat (10%) horse feed designed for mature horses needing additional calories, particularly those that are thinning with age.  Similar in philosophy to the Sound Starch Senior, the  Defiance Senior Hi Fat also has a low level of non-structural carbohydrates (NSC, 12.2%), making it a safe feed to offer senior horses sensitive to sugar and starch in their diet. Similar to the Sound Starch Senior, this feed offers a higher level of fat for those horses needing additional calories, particularly those that are thinning with age.  Additionally, Defiance Senior Hi Fat contains loose beet pulp shreds to offer a bulky fiber source to those horses having difficulty consuming hay or forage. Due to loose beet pulp, this feed has additional soybean oil and added molasses to improve palatability.

HOW TO FEED

Maintenance (horses older than 4 years) and Light work: Feed 0.5 to 1.0 lbs per 100 lbs of bodyweight per day.

Senior Horses, Medium or Heavy work, or horses with teeth or digestive problems: Feed at the rate of 1.0 to 1.5 lbs per 100 lbs of bodyweight  per day.

This product may need to be moistened or soaked with water for increased consumption, particularly for senior horses that consume feed quickly, or horses that have no prior experience consuming loose beet pulp. Adjust the amount of feed per day depending on the animals condition and level of work. Feed in addition to an adequate supply of pasture or hay, fresh clean water, and free-choice white salt. It is advised that if senior horses are able t0 consume hay, that hay continue to be offered in addition to this feed.

Store product in a clean environment free of moisture, rodents, insects, and other pests. Do not feed moldy or repugnant feed. This product has been formulated specifically for horses and is not intended for other species.  DO NOT FEED TO SHEEP DUE TO HIGH COPPER LEVEL.
