ABOUT THE PRODUCT

Ranch-O-Lyx 18% AN Economy All-Stock Pressed Tub is an economically priced pressed tub with 18% crude protein and no added copper so it is safe for sheep.  The protein and energy sources are derived from distiller’s dried grains with solubles (DDGs), corn steep liquor, soybean meal, corn gluten feed, and corn syrup.  Ranch-O-Lyx 18% AN Economy All-Stock Pressed Tub is a supplement designed for self feeding situations where cattle, horses, sheep and goats are grazed in common pastures.  This tub is formulated to deliver all of the supplemental nutrition livestock need in one “package,” therefore no additional mineral supplementation is required (see feeding instructions below).  As a rule of thumb, for every 1 lb of Ranch-O-Lyx 18% AN Economy All-Stock Pressed Tub offered, ~3 oz of Ranch-Way’s Ranch-O-Min vitamins and minerals is provided (except copper).

Features and Benefits:

  • Elevated zinc level to address chronic zinc deficiencies in the forage, common in the High Plains and Rocky Mountain region.
  • Modest selenium levels to compensate for the elevated forage selenium that may prevail on some ranches.
  • Cobalt is added to support healthy rumen microbial function and B12 production.
  • Elevated iodine to support hoof health.
  • Vitamin A fortification to offset the deficiency of Vitamin A typical of dormant forages.

Available in a 200# tub

HOW TO FEED

Target intake is consistent and reliable when fed in accordance with these feeding directions:

Feed continuously as a protein, vitamin and mineral supplement at the rate of one container for every 10 to 20 head, with a minimum of two containers in each lot or pasture to ensure proper accessibility.  Cattle and horses typically consume from 0.5 to 1.5 lbs per head per day.  Sheep, goats, and camelids typically consume between 0.25 to 0.75 lb per head per day.   A 10-day supply of this tub may be put out at one time. Make sure animals are not starved for salt or minerals prior to introducing tubs.  It is critical that animals have adequate pasture or forage available to meet their energy needs (most livestock require ~1.5% of their BW per day in dry-matter intake for maintenance).  If pasture and/or roughage supply is inadequate to meet the energy demands for growth, gestation, lactation, or to maintain proper body condition, then supplemental grain or roughage should be provided.  Provide free-choice access to plain white salt prior to and during feeding tubs.  Always provide clean, fresh water.

A two-week adaptation period may be required to establish a base consumption. If  consumption is low, increase the number of tubs per pasture and place containers near loafing areas and water source.  Consumption can be regulated by increasing or decreasing the number of containers available to livestock.  If consumption is high, decrease the number of tubs per pasture and spread containers out over a wider area.  Consumption will depend on the size and age of animals fed, and will vary with the type and quality of forage available; if livestock have access to an adequate supply of forage they are not likely to over consume this product.  Livestock maintained in a dry-lot or paddock scenario and/or that have limited access to forage will over-consume this product out of boredom or hunger; tubs are typically not the correct protein supplementation in these scenarios.  Target intake is consistent and reliable when fed in accordance with these feeding directions.

CAUTION

Care should be taken to minimize additional copper from forage, water or other feed stuffs available to sheep. All multi-species feeds leave nutritional gaps due to differences in nutritional requirements of each species. When feeding this, or any other mutli-species feed, it is recommended that a species-specific mineral supplement be fed.

Store product in a clean environment free of moisture, rodents, insects, and other pests.  Do not feed moldy or repugnant feed.
