ABOUT THE PRODUCT

Bov-A-Min Summer Mineral B1440 is a free choice mineral and loose mineral is designed to meet or exceed the trace mineral requirements of beef cattle maintained on summer and fall pasture.  The Calcium and Phosphorus levels are specifically balanced to complement the changes that occur in green, but maturing forages during the warmest months.  Bov-A-Min Summer Mineral B1440 contains Bovatec (Lasalocid), which can be used to increase rate of weight gain in cattle (slaughter, stocker, feeder cattle, and dairy and beef replacement heifers) maintained in a pasture scenario.

Benefits include:

  • Elevated copper and zinc levels to address chronic copper and zinc deficiencies in the forage, common in the High Plains and Rocky Mountain region.
  • Modest selenium levels to compensate for the elevated forage selenium that may prevail on some ranches.
  • Zinpro’s Availa® brand of organic (“chelated”) sources of Cu and Zn bound to an amino acid complex to protect against mineral antagonism, improve mineral absorption, and support immune and reproductive function.
  • Intellibond® source of Cu and Zn for improved mineral status in the cowherd.
  • Cobalt is added to support healthy rumen microbial function and B12 production.
  • Elevated iodine to support hoof health.
  • Aggressive Vitamin A fortification to offset the deficiency of Vitamin A typical of dormant and droughts-stressed forages.

HOW TO FEED

Bov-A-Min Summer Mineral B1440 is formulated to be fed continuously on a free-choice basis to pasture cattle (slaughter, stocker, feeder cattle, and dairy and beef replacement heifers) to provide 60-200 mg of Lasalocid per head daily.  Pasture and roughage should be adequate to assure minimum consumption of supplement will be 1.34 oz/head/day (which provides 60 mg of Lasalocid) up to 4.44 oz/head/day (which provides 200 mg of Lasalocid).  If cattle consume more or less than these levels, feeders should be moved further or closer to the general resting or watering area.  If cattle still fail to consume the correct amount, discontinue feeding this mineral and vitamin supplement.
